Education and Experience

· Minimum Associate degree required..

Essential Skills and Abilities

Attend sales appointments with Account Executives to continue sales and development opportunities.

Makes new business presentations to prospective accounts and call on current accounts to sell new or additional product lines and obtains approval for system-wide sales.

Conducts monthly sales meetings for the entire team.

Measures and tracks period and quarterly results.

Conducts sales/training meetings the sales team.

Introduce sales and merchandising programs to the sales team.

Promote product knowledge (natural, organic, specialty & gourmet and share manufacturing data and other market specific data.

Develop and train sales team in selling techniques.

Review results and opportunities for growing sales and profits.

Coordinates new product introductions, promotional opportunities and services to our sales team for presentations with customers.

Work closely with Account Executives to present and promote new and existing products and services.

Create account-specific programs to meet member and customer needs.

Work with procurement on product selection, price points, promotional programs, sales estimates.

Present proposed shelf space standards for new item placement and existing product lines.

Serves as a communication link between natural, organic & specialty department, brokers, manufacturers and sales team.

Keep sales team informed of activities and coordinates with brokers.

Provide feedback on products, promotions, and services, internally and externally.

Keep Executive Director and Senior Management informed of members and customers activities; including promotions, logistics, pricing, and all related flow of information.

Works with account executives on potential changes in the product mix according to market data.

Works closely with customers to evaluate section size, itemization and product mix.

Assists in coordination of scheduling staff when store merchandising is needed.

Evaluate competitive situation in the marketplace to assure success of programs and products.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

Requires a Bachelors degree in business, marketing, or related discipline. In the absence of formal education, significant and directly related experience may be substituted.

Experience:

Minimum seven years related grocery sales experience and a minimum two years sales management experience.

Knowledge:

Advanced in-depth knowledge of specialty-natural food products, confections, general merchandise products, suppliers, and retailers. Knowledge of store merchandising practices and standards.

Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence others, resolve problems as they occur, and achieve results working in partnership with company management. Stand-up presentation skills with experience in making presentations to members/customers and potential customers. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize the work of others and follow through to assure completion to standards and schedule. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance coverage, and a safe driving record. Must be willing and able to travel to perform job duties
